Mokhtar Akbari, PT, graduated from the School of Physiotherapy of the University of Ottawa in 2005. In addition, he can use modalities like therapeutic ultrasound to supplement his treatment techniques. His treatment approach is as holistic as possible when it comes to the care of his patients. Mokhtar is very practical in his approach and uses the techniques that yield the best and quickest results. He has experience treating many different populations including those suffering from back and neck pain, sciatica, arthritis, older populations with strength and balance issues, office workers with postural problems, students who struggle with long hours of studying, athletes and children. With his specialized training in osteopathic techniques, myofascial release, and the McKenzie Method, Mokhtar is able to treat the patient’s current issue while also looking at the body as a whole to detect causative factors that may be contributing to pain or injury. By correcting these wider issues, patients may better resolve their current pain, maintain their health, and prevent recurrences of the injury. Mokhtar is currently engaged in a six-year post-graduate program to complete his osteopathy training at le Centre Ostéopathique du Québec. This study allows him to more adequately treat injuries using a global holistic approach. Mokhtar is entirely bilingual, offering services in both French and English. He can also offer physiotherapy services in Persian or Farsi. As an empathetic therapist, Mokhtar likes to meet his patients where they are and provide them with a program that is realistic for them and helps them meet their own goals.
